Our scouting year is filled with camping, education, activities, and fun. These experiences allow our scouts and their families to spend quality, valuable time together, fostering an active and welcoming environment where our scouts learn and grow. 

New Lenox Troop 49 is a highly active troop within Rainbow Council, #702, based in Lockport, IL. We proudly serve scouts from across the area, including New Lenox, Manhattan, Mokena, Lockport, Joliet, and Wilmington. We are one of the most active troops in the council, planning activities and campouts at least once a month. Explore our troop calendar here on the site to see what adventures await!

We are deeply committed to community service. You'll find us passing out flags and marching in the Loyalty Day Parade, participating in the annual Scout Food Drive, assisting at Sharefest, and engaging in many other valuable opportunities throughout the year 

Our Troop is proudly scout-led, with active leader and parent involvement dedicated to helping our scouts make the most of their scouting experience.

Our Troop fundraisers include the annual BSA Popcorn Sale, Holiday Flags, and our popular Pancake Breakfast at the VFW. A significant portion of the funds raised by scouts is deposited into their personal scout accounts, which they can use for campouts, activities, or personal equipment. The remaining funds support registration, badges, and the purchase of shared troop equipment for all our campouts and activities 

The Troop meets on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and occasionally the 5th Monday of each month. All regular troop meetings are held at the New Lenox VFW.

The 1st Monday of each month is reserved for the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) meetings, where our elected and appointed scout leaders plan upcoming activities. Parent and Committee Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of the month from 6:15 PM - 7:00 PM. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend committee meetings, as our goal is to support and enable our scouts to achieve their full potential,

All Troop and PLC meetings are held at our Charter Organization, VFW Post 9545, located at 323 Old Hickory Road, New Lenox, IL 60451. PLC meetings begin at 7:00 PM and typically last 60 minutes. Troop meetings also begin at 7:00 PM and last approximately 90 minutes.
